efficient markets hypothesis:
the theory that individuals make informed forecasts of the future based on all available information

equity premium puzzle:
describes the empirical feature whereby stocks tend to out-perform other financial assets in rate of return

fundamentalist approach:
the position that states that the price of a stock is determined by fundamentals of a company's performance, such as the flow of anticipated dividends

inter-listing of stocks:
stocks for a company listed on several stock exchanges at once

over-the-counter (OTC):
a secondary market for the sale of stocks held in an inventory that can be bought or sold at the prices offered by dealers

random walk:
in its simplest version, the notion that the best forecast of next period's value of an economic variable, such as stock prices, is its current value

stock exchanges:
markets where stock issues are traded

stock price indexes:
aggregate measures of the value of several stocks; examples include the TSE300 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average
